Step-by-Step Guide: How to Apply Vehicle Decals Yourself (Without Bubbles or Creases)

Applying vinyl stickers doesn’t have to be stressful. Here’s a simple method that works for most cars, caravans, motorhomes and boats:

1. Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a good surface cleaner. Remove all wax, dirt and grease.
2. Measure and mark the exact position with masking tape.
3. Peel the backing paper slowly, keeping the sticker on the transfer tape.
4. Start from one edge and smooth the sticker down with a squeegee, working from the centre outwards.
5. Remove the transfer tape at a 180° angle.
6. Check for any trapped air and gently push it out toward the edge.

We offer a squeegee for purchase and our vinyl is formulated to be forgiving for DIY installation. For large graphics (side stripes, big Australian maps or windscreen banners), take your time and work in sections.
